West Mayo Primary Schools Cross Country 2024

Lecanvey NS and Westport Athletics Club organised the West Mayo Primary Schools Cross Country Championships for the fourth year running on September 18th. We availed of the fantastic site at the National Famine Memorial in Murrisk to host the event. We must thank Murrisk Development Association and Mayo County Council for the use of this fabulous facility. Sandwiched between Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay, it provided the perfect setting for a morning of keen racing. An astounding thirty four schools took part and six hundred and sixteen children ran! We would like to thank volunteers, Order of Malta, An Garda Siochana, teachers and coaches for giving the children such a wonderful experience. For Lecanvey's part for the first time we have a qualifier for the Mayo Championships in Belleek on September 25th.
