Bí Cineálta

In September 2024, we were afforded the wonderful opportunity of attending the launch of the new Department of Education friendship and anti-bullying programme, Bí Cineálta.

The launch took place in Croke Park and we set off on the early train to play an active part. We joined sixteen other schools in presenting a showcase on friendship and anti-bullying. We displayed and summarized work we have been doing for a number of weeks on using a graphic novel to help the topics of friendship, inclusion disability and anti-bullying. It was wonderful to hear three of our students get videographed and recorded giving a wonderful account of the good work carried out in class.

Having presented, we were the first school on the day to meet Minister Norma Foley. She was very impressed with our presentation, especially the artwork!

Next we attended the Cineáltas awards ceremony which recognized the work of schools in the area of anti-bullying. These awards were presented by Minister Foley and some members of the Olympic Rowing Team- what better role models? Lunch in beautiful surroundings followed.

We brought our day in the city to a close by visiting a few shops, catching the Luas to Heuston Station and onto the late train west. A day we will never forget! We thank the Department of Education for the opportunity.
