BLAST Arts in Education Residency Programme 2023/2024.

We have just completed a 6 week Arts in Education Residency Programme. This has been a wonderful opportunity for our school to engage in a fully funded Artist in Residence who had been trained in partnership working with teachers in school settings. This trained teacher collaborated and worked with the class teacher and the class in an ongoing approach to enhance the integration of the arts and creativity in education. The emphasis was on developing the partnership between the teacher, the artist, students and the school community which resulted in enhanced learning outcomes in the arts and creativity for all.

Every child got to be creative and have fun with a variety of mediums. We explored land art on the beach, ceramics in the classroom, a focus on pattern and texture. We also looked at kinetic art.

• Andy Goldsworthy ( land artist)

• Howard Hodgkin (painting)

• Alexander Calder (Sculpture)

• Clare Young (paper art, kinetic animals, textures)
